Beware of Phishing scams for Knology users

I have received emails claiming to be from Knology customer service or support over the last couple of weeks.  I thought I would share the content with my readers so they can be aware of how these emails may look.  The key thing to be very suspect is any time an email asks for personal information and passwords.

When in doubt contact the company by other means. 
Additional tips:
1. Do not respond to email.
2. Do not click on links.
3. If reading from a preview delete without actually opening.
4. If the company in question has a department to handle spam email them a copy.

Be safe.  the following is an example of the most recent emai I received:

 

 

Dear Account User,

 

We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail account center i.e homepage view.In order to continue using our services you are require to update and re-comfirm your email account details as requested below.To complete your account re-comfirmation, you must reply this email immediately and enter your account details as requested below.

 

E-mail Login ID: 

Password :       

confirm password:

Date of Birth :  

 

Failure to do this will immediately render your account deactivated from our database and service will not be interrupted as important messages may aswell be lost due to your declining to re-comfirm your account details to us.

 

Webmail Technical Support Team.

This email did not look very official but some of the bank ones I have seen do.
