Twas just before the holidays and my computer failed to boot.- 12_20_2011
Twas just before the holidays an my computer failed to boot. A hard drive failure was the cause. Sadly I just replaced the drive a few months ago with a Seagate Momentus XT . No motor sound at all, and carrying a date code of 11037 for its build.
So what is a webmaster to do? Well after cursing and turning the computer on a couple of hundred times it was clear I lost my drive, ah but not my mind or data. I have been using one of the online products we promote and all might be good. Carbonite to the rescue after a little over a day of allowing it to do its thing I think we got almost everything back. I had to rebuild the system first and install my software. The only negative side to this is that my machine was having some type of conflict with Carbonite so I was manually starting and stopping Carbonite so I lost a couple of days, not that big of an issue.
So what does the Holiday bring “Good Cheer” because I am actively backing up my data.
I hope your Holidays are a little better than mine, but we will all enjoy and look for an even better 2012!
Remember if it is important back it up. Any method of backup whether it is CD/DVD, Flash Drive, External Hard Drive, Cloud Based, is better than none at all.
