Twinz Big City Hotdogs serves the “Chicago Dog” – 06/04/2012

How does the Chicago Dog fair at another Tampa Bay Hot Dog Joint. Well lets say with the exception of not having the hot dog steamers up front like the “Chicago Joints” I almost felt like I was at one of the originals like a Poochies, Herms or Flukeys when they were only a 1 or 2 location place.

Twinz* serve hotdogs from the Red Hot Chicago Company rather than Vienna and thats ok there is a relationship between these companies and the dogs are very similar.  The lineage of both Vienna and Red Hot Chicago go back to Sam Ladany and his partner that created Vienna.  In 1971 Scott Ladany son of Sam, started the company Red Hot Chicago and a second great hot dog found its way into may Joints across Chicago.
(* At the time I compiled this the web site www.twinzbigcityhotdogs.com was down so the link on Twinz is to their FB Page.)

So how did they stack up? The Chicago Dog was great all the trimmings and even a poppy seed bun.  Fries are thick crinkle cut although I prefer the skin on Chicago Fries these were more like the fries at SuperDawg and were very good and cooked well.  Rich the owner tells me the Sweet Potatoes Fries are to die for but I am just not a fan of Sweet Potatoes.  The price is a little high at $3.95 but he runs specials when you buy a second dog with  a meal deal.  Additionally the day I was there he had Milk Shakes for $.99 with the purchase of a Meal Deal.

Twinz has a decent lineup of of Food either Hamburgers or Hot Dogs, excellent choices for a real Hot Dog Joint where the Dog and Burger are top billing.  OK, he also has Wings that’s his New York thing on the menu and a bunch of Sides like:

  • Fries
  • Sweet Potato Fries
  • Skin on Chips (Freshly Made)
  • Garlic Parma Fries
  • Onion Rings
  • Nacho Chilli Cheese Fries
  • Bacon Cheddar Fries
  • Chicken Strips

Did we already mention Fries? Add Supreme Tamales and I would be in heaven, or maybe “Chicago”.

Also if you like it let Rich know that you are a fan of Italian Beef so maybe he can bring it back in the future.

And Yes at Twinz you can get a Milk Shake with the Burger or Dog. Check out the flavors for the shakes and make sure you ask Rich about the “Rob and Richie”.
