1000s could lose internet connection this Monday? 07062012
Could you lose your internet on Monday? Apparently there are tens of thousands of computers infected with malware that is playing games with the DNS address required to access the internet. This change may have happened months ago but will have an issue this week because the FBI is going to shutdown the safety net servers setup to prevent loss when they shutdown the infected servers.
The FBI’s temporary servers will be shutdown on Monday at 12:01 AM EDT. It is estimated that only about 64,000 users in the US are still infected, and about 277,000 world wide.
If you would like to check the status of your computer go to the site setup by the group hired by the FBI to setup the safety net at http://www.dcwg.org. For more information about the Malware attack check out this link to Malware May Knock Thousands Off Internet at the WSJ.COM.
