Pink Screen when playing .WMV files.

Fix Pink Playback Issue

After an upgrade to windows 10 I began experiencing Pink Screens when playing back .wmv files.  Media Player seemed to be working fine with other types of files. After a little searching I found 1 issue online and the 2nd I discovered on my own.

Default programs

  1. Open the default programs desktop app.
  2. Select set your default apps.
  3. Locate & Select Windows Media Player
  4. Click on Select as Default Player
  5. Click on OKdefault media player

Performance Options

In Media Player in the options menu there is a Performance tab. In that tab there is a check box for turning off media acceleration for .wmv files. Make sure that this is turned off.
